THE DEVELOP STAGE
The Develop phase invites students to think divergently once again, seeking and analysing inspiration from a wide range of sources, and generating imaginative ideas aligned with the communication need. They brainstorm with both words and images, and use rapid drawing and making methods to create, recreate, and explore the potential of design ideas. Students experiment with the design elements and principles, while using a range of methods, media and materials in expressive ways. Annotations are used to describe design decisions and evaluate ideas in light of the brief.
DETAILS
You should aim to produce a wide range of work for your develop stage, this will involve things such as Mind-maps, brainstorming, research of existing solutions relevant to the brief, empathy mapping, stakeholder mapping, surveys and inspiration and insights from various different disciplines to create a broad understanding of the design problem.
BACKGROUND
The develop stage is where you are to start coming up with specific ideas to solve the needs outlined in the brief, the start of this stage requires more specific research which responds to the needs defined in the brief, and culminates with the production of a wide range of design ideas which have the potential to form a design solution.
