Unit 1 Outcome 2: Solving design problems

THE DESIGN SOLUTION

Students propose a resolved solution using appropriate presentation formats. The quality of the design solution is measured by the quality of the design, in that it showcases a high degree of skill and understanding of design, moreover, it is evaluated based on how effectively it responds to the design brief, a fully resolved design solution should be able to effectively discuss how it responded to every aspect of the brief.

DETAILS

Presentations might include documentation drawings, models, concept boards, mock-ups or high-fidelity prototypes, and may be accompanied by a written rationale. The manufacture of functional prototypes is not a requirement of this study.

BACKGROUND

The design solution is where most designers' roles conclude. They has looked at all the possible ways to solve the design problem or need, come up with a range of ideas, evaluated those ideas and now have a complete, fully resolved design which will be presented to the client, or pushed into production (Getting built, made, printed or published).
