Assessment overview

This project involves the building of a report, where you will be comparing two designers, looking at the many different aspects of their job and their design processes. In some cases, the designer or designers you select, may not discuss information appropriate to the items you need to cover in the report, as such, you may compare different designers at different stages of the report.

1. Contexts

TASK

You are to produce a comparitive analysis, which describes the contexts of two selected designers, comparing their work environments and discussing how it may affect their design process

DETAILS

This document is to be 300 words in length and describing their work environment, including their location, workspace, whether they work as a freelance designer, agency, or as an In-house designer. It is to compare the contexts of each designer.

BACKGROUND

Understanding the many contexts in which a designer works is an excellent way to understand what type of work environment may suit you in your own design career, and also to understand how the context in which a designer works, can influence their design process.

Understanding how design practices and process evolve over time, provides you an opportunity to predict and prepare for the design practice of the future.

You are to produce a comparitive analysis which details how designers from two different industries use visual language to communicate to clients at different stages of the design process.

BACKGROUND

It is important as a designer, to know what sort of visual language to use in different contexts, as it ensure that you are selecting the most optimal way in which to commuicate the key ideas behind your design to different stakeholders.
